1 Samuel 16:12-13 “...Then the Lord said, “Anoint him, for he is the one.” So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David from that day forward.” ~CSB If my son wants something, and I know he wants it, I ‘Can Not’ tell him I’m going to get it for him until I actually get it. If I tell him I’m going to do something and it takes me a week or two, he will ask me everyday “when” or ask, “Have you done it yet?” He will ‘worry’ me until he finally gets what I promised him. Now, this is an example of how one may be promised something and lacks the patience to receive it. David is a great example of, not only having patience, but also in waiting on God’s time, not his own. At a very young age, David was anointed and promised the throne as King of his people, but would not see this promise until much later in his life. The time spent during this time of ‘waiting’ actually prepared him for the throne. When he finally inherited the promise of God, he was more than qualified to be King. He fought many battles in victory as a soldier and leader under God’s guidance. He endured persecution from the previous king because of jealousy and hate. And even though he had many opportunities to take out his oppressor, he did not. Instead he remained loyal and trusted God to lay out his path to destiny. This is what we must do. In our strong relationship with God we must know His plans for us. We must be patient and endure our trials. Trusting in the Lord to guide us and keep us on the right track no matter what the enemy tries to put in our face. We must hold in our hearts God’s desire for our lives. In other words, ‘If God is not in it, we don’t want it!’ The next time life drives you to the point of impatience, frustration and anger, think about David. Go back and read the book of Samuel and see the blueprint God set in David’s heart to endure and trust in the Lord. In this great story you will witness and feel the Love God has for David. And you will see that David recognizes and receives this love from God and returns it with everything he has. This must be our lives as well. May God bless and keep you in his mighty will, power, healing and protection, in Jesus name. Amen
